Week Recap & This Week

I completed a most excellent week of fundraising and training.

FUNDRAISING: This weekend I had two very successful fundraising events. Saturday, Allan and I had a "Drink for a Cause" event at the Manhattan Beach Sharkeez and Sunday, Sharon, Carlos, Marie and I had the "Westside Idol" karaoke contest at Backstage in Culver City. Both events were a lot of fun and helped raise a few hundred dollars to get me closer to my $7,000 goal!

TRAINING: While last week was a build week, this week is a recovery week. Because of this you will notice a big change in the time, amount and distance of workouts we have planned.

Monday - Rest day
Tuesday - 40 minute run
Wednesday - 1.5 hour base ride
Thursday - Coached swim
Friday - Rest
Saturday - 2 hour bike ride followed by a 1 hour run
Sunday - 1.5k swim for time

Should be a great week.

Finding Focus

Training with the team has been a really fantastic experience. Everyone is energetic, passionate and overall, really awesome people. It's been great seeing everyone improve over the past few months.

My personal training has been mediocre at best. Not because I'm horrible at swimming, biking or running, I'm fairly decent, but because I have found it very difficult to find the discipline to stick to the training schedule. I want to do well both at Wildflower and Vineman so it's time I get it together and stick to the workout schedule. My awesomeness alone will not get me through the race. I need to earn it.

My training schedule for this week is:

Monday - 40 minutes on trainer
Tuesday - 40 minute easy run, 1600 meter swim
Wednesday - 1.5 hour base bike ride
Thursday - 40 minute tempo run, coached swim (not sure of distance)
Friday - Rest Day
Saturday - 3 hour bike ride
Sunday- 1.5 hour run, 1K swim for time

I will complete each one of these trainings....watch me!

Also, I've been experimenting with nutrition. I'm currently a huge fan of Gatorade Endurance and Carbo-Pro. I like mixing them together. It's delicious....not really, but it does give the carbs I need to get through the workouts. If anyone has any suggestions on other products to try please let me know.

A FULL Ironman.

SAVE THE DATE. Yes, that is correct. On August 1, 2009 I will be completing my first FULL IRONMAN!!!

I figured since I was doing a whole lot of training for the half-Ironman, I might as well go for the glory and train for a full-distance Ironman. I am really nervous and excited and more than anything I really hope I finish!
